Missionaries and local leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Rwanda visited the Ecole Technique Automobile de Gisenyi on January 14, 2023. They shared inspirational messages and toured the school facilities, which were freshly painted with funds and labor that Church members had donated.
- Yves Bizimana, who presides over several local congregations, summarized the history of the Church of Jesus Christ in Rwanda.
- Christian Mavinga, president of the Rwanda mission, explained the purpose of missionary work and introduced Elder Mark Sheppard and Elder Allan Nyoni, two young missionaries who shared their testimonies of the restoration of the Gospel.
President Mavinga added, “this activity gave us an excellent opportunity to support a school that is already doing excellent work in educating young people in Rubavu by teaching them all they need to know about automobiles. The nicest aspect is that a lot of people showed up and showed an interest in learning more about our Church. This provided us a great opportunity for missionary work.”
Brother Aloys Bimenyimana, the headmaster of the school, expressed his gratitude for the visit. “Brethren of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,” he said, “we enjoyed spending time with each one of you at the activity at the Ecole Automobile de Gisenyi, the school that I’m leading. We won’t forget your activity to paint the dining room of our school and our different office rooms, and we won’t forget your initiative to ‘Light the World’ during the Christmas season.”
He continued, “given the possibility that this is not the end, we hope you will continue to assist and support us in expanding the necessary facilities to allow us to educate more students. as well as introduce the Gospel to us and the students. We are so grateful for you and to God. Thank you so much.”
