On Sunday August 27, 2023, 18 local officials and opinion leaders accepted invitations to attend a conference held by the Kisanga Stake (akin to a diocese) of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lubumbashi DR Congo. After the conference these officials met with local leaders of the Church, and all received copies of the Book of Mormon and other Church publications.

These opinion leaders included: the Honorable Serge Bwesi Lukisa, Provincial Deputy from Upper Katanga, Odimba Maya, head of the municipal office, Anaclet Mulenda, secretary of the Somika District, Christelle Kat, chair of the Kisanga District, and Mick Kapend, urban market administrator.

The Kisanga Stake conference was presided by Elder Ilunga Eustache, Area Authority Seventy, and Stake President Ilunga Kabemba Patrice. Brother Got, counselor in the Congo Lubumbashi Mission, urged young people to prepare for a full-time mission to preach the Gospel. This will bless their lives, their families, and those whose souls they bring to Christ.

President Ilunga Kabemba Patrice testified to the truth of the Church and its living prophet. He invited members to persevere on the covenant path with their eye fixed on Jesus Christ our Redeemer, especially in times of trials and difficulty. We must continue to pray, repent, and remain firm in our commitments to serve the Savior, he said.

Elder Ilunga testified that temples are the house of God. He called on Church members to make it a priority to always feel the presence of the Lord in their lives by remaining worthy and keeping the commandments. Elder Ilunga also taught about the importance of paying honest and complete tithes and the promises that accompany this principle.
