The President of Anchor International Outreach Ministry, Dr. Bolarinwa Omotosho has observed that the global church is facing discipleship challenge

He made the observation at the discipleship training programme of the ministry on November 18 in Lagos. The training programme had in attendance about 130 participants from across different churches.

Omotosho said, “Our Savior’s Jesus Christ call to missions and evangelism is much more than a call to share the gospel with those who do not have it. It is a call to make disciples of the nations”.

Global Church

He noted that the global church is facing a discipleship crisis today because many of those who claim to be Bible teachers were not trained to raise disciples

He stated, “There is a high rate of moral decadence, huge loss of moral values, and corruption everywhere at home, church, community, state, and national level. This is a consequence of the kind of message being preached on our pulpits.

“No matter how the church today works tirelessly to care for people, initiate new ministries, use motivational preaching, and keep up with new trends without intentionally planned discipleship it is a waste of time and resources. Sadly, many of these efforts do not result in deeply changed lives.”

Discipleship, way to go

While insisting that the way to go is life-changing discipleship training for all followers of Christ he said, “Pastors and church leaders who want to see lives changed by the gospel must go back to Discipleship”

In a chat with journalists after the event, Bolarinwa said Archor Int’l Ministry has a divine mandate of raising men and women of integrity and holy living for the next generation.

The conference was tagged, Discipling the Next–Generation Leaders to serve.

Omotosho said Jesus’ first commandment is for us to go and make disciples of all nations.

The conference coincided with the 2nd Convocation of Anchor International Youth and Teen Work Academy(AIYTA).

It was the 2023 graduation ceremony of students from the ministry’s child and youth studies professional programme.  “We have trained close to 700 students with 100 percent scholarship,” Omotosho said.

A senior lecturer at the Department of Sociology, Lagos State University. Professor Ajiboye Olanrewaju.

He was the convocation guest speaker at the 2nd convocation of Anchor International Youth and Teen Work Academy(AIYTA).

He spoke on the theme: “The Contributions of Professional Children and Youth Workers in Development and Social Participation of Social Vulnerable Youngsters in Nigeria”

Ready for partnership

Omotosho disclosed that Anchor International Outreach Ministry is ready to partner with any church to train its ministers and workers to become disciple-making leaders.

At the conference participants got a free Study Bible, workbook, both e-books and hardcopy books worth of $58,000.

“We are hopeful that it will be useful for their ministry development as it will be edifying their walking and following Christ humbly, obediently, and with an open heart.”

He added, “We felt the call to follow Christ by committing to our fivefold E’s of empathy, equipping, educating, empowering, and evangelizing to raising and disciplining, the Next-Generation Leaders”.
