St. James the Greater parish in Kadoma, will on 23 April 2023, host a fundraising gala to raise funds for a Parish Car. The Parish invites all Catholics and non-Catholics to celebrate family fun day and to participate in THE fundraising activities towards the purchase of a vehicle.

The day will begin with holy mass at 7:30am followed by a Junior call parade organized by the Missionary Childhood from St. Mary’s Rimuka and St. James parishes. 15 child “soldiers” are going to parade hence synodal participation of the Missionary Childhood in Parish activities. Family games will also be displayed on the same day amidst a plethora of other activities.

St. James the Greater is a vibrant Parish which falls under Western Deanery in the Archdiocese of Harare. On 1 January 2023, Kadoma Parish was officially separated into two parishes which are St. Marys and St. James the Greater. For pastoral reasons, the Parish decided to raise funds for a vehicle to transport their Priest from one centre to the other. The Parish has 14 centres and the furthest centre is 96km away from the Parish.

The parish has this year, started proceedings of buying a vehicle hence, they organized activities to raise funds towards the project. St. James the Greater, is one of the parishes whose Catholic population is rapidly growing due to upcoming settlements in Kadoma.

The Centre which is currently chaired by Mr. Machaya, invites well-wishers, other Catholic parishes, and the entire Christian community to support the project. The proposed car for the parish is an Isuzu KB250 which has a good clearance for accessing parishes outside Kadoma city.
