Bishop of Hwange Diocese, Raphael Ncube commissioned a 5000L water storage tank at Sunrise children’s home in Binga on 15 July 2023. The National Movement of Catholic Students (NMCS) extended their charity and donated a water storage tank to Sunrise children’s home to deal with water woes that affect the institution. This happened when the Diocese of Hwange celebrated the sacred music at All Souls Mission in Binga.

NMCS consists of a group of graduate Catholic young adults from different parts of Zimbabwe who willingly financed the project from their pockets to support children with enough water supply. The Sister in Charge of Sunrise Children’s Home, Gladys Mupeta received the gift on behalf of the children. She expressed her gratitude by encouraging the young adults to continue supporting the underprivileged member of our society.

“This is one of the biggest gifts that Sunrise children’s home has ever received from young people like you. Lots of work is being done to make a stand for the tank so that it can start working to supply water for the Children’s Home. Watering using the bucket system especially with lots of power cuts in Binga is very hard, but this tank will bring relief to this family. May God bless every individual who contributed towards this gift,” she said.

Bishop Ncube expressed gratitude to the National Movement of Catholic Students for the kind gesture, highlighting that the future of the Church was bright with young people who think about other.

“My worry about the church’s future has been reduced. The Church needs leaders like you, who sacrifice their interests for others. Young adults should actively participate in all events of the church and not only in their respective deaneries but also stretch their hand to other deaneries just like what you have done,” stressed bishop Ncube.
