Some members of the Legion of Mary were recently received in Binga, Hwange Diocese.

The legion of Mary association in Binga received new members for the first time on 8 December 2023 at All Souls Mission during the cerebration of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of Mary.

Fr. Del Barrio encouraged Legionaries to live an immaculate lifestyle which draws people to God. He encouraged them to be faithful as Mary was in their hearts, family, and in the communities in which they live.

Locadia Nyoni, a member of Legion of Mary shared that there were very members of the association and that they continue to work hard in popularizing the guild. Only 13 women are full members of the Legion of Mary in Binga. Nyoni said that Legion of Mary members have been there at All Souls Mission since 2019 but without full membership as they were still undergoing lessons to comprehend the mission of the guild.

Legion of Mary members lead the procession during the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

“You become a full member when you have undergone lessons about the guild and you are assessed whether you qualify before you are given a uniform. Its not just about getting a uniform but the process demands that one gets a full understanding of what it means to be a member of the Legion of Mary,” she said.

She attributed the delay in receiving new members to COVID 19 which interrupted with their learning process.

The new members clothed at All Souls Mission are Maria Mazivire, Eneles Mugande, Daisy Mwembe, Winfreda Ndlovu, Memory Phiri and Shantani Sibanda. Nyoni said the other one was clothed at St. George’s Parish in Hwange and one was already a full member from St. John Mary Vianney Mission in Kariangwe, Binga.

The celebration was attended by legionaries from other parishes, Women of St. Anne, Catholic young adults, the youth, Missionary Childhood and men of St. Joseph’s guild.
