Fr. Pontiano Mulenga, a Salesian of Don Bosco and dean of Hwange Urban Deanery urged Catholics to live a life of unity and love at St. Teresa of Avila Parish in Hwange on 4 June 2023.

In his homily during the celebration of the solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, Fr. Mulenga, who is the Parish Priest of St. Teresa of Avila in Hwange explained that there is one God who is resembled by the Holy Trinity of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Fr. Mulenga reminded people of the love which is in the Trinity and encouraged people to love one another and to live in peace.

He advised people not to be divided amongst themselves since they worshiped the same God.

“We realize that there is a lot of division in our society. Why are we divided when we were created to love as brothers and sisters?”, He asked.

Fr. Mulenga said that there is a lot of hatred prevailing in families, at workplaces and in the church although people profess faith in one God. The priest stressed the importance of unity which helps people to achieve more when they are united. He called on the people from Hwange Diocese to have unity of purpose and to work for the common good. He castigated those who use the church to advance their selfish interests and saw seeds of division in the community.

He emphasized that the Trinity should always be a sign of unity in the family, church, and society while he encouraged people to show their love to God by the way they serve others.
