Hundreds of Catholics from different parishes from around Zimbabwe gathered at Regina Mundi Primary School, Highfields on 29 April 2023 to celebrate the Silver and Golden Jubilee of six LCBL Sisters. The six are Sr. Nomsa Makumbe, Sr. Rujeko Muchabaiwa, Sr. Veronica Masikinye, Sr. Alois Nyanhete, Sr. Florence Chipango and Sr. Martin Chikosha. The event was graced by Archbishop Robert Ndlovu who celebrated Holy Mass for the sisters.

The LCBL Sisters are found in Zimbabwe and work to promote the mission of the Church in the Archdiocese of Harare, Chinhoyi and Gokwe dioceses. A 90-year congregation has attained achievements in social work, education, counselling, pastoral work and health care. The LCBL Sisters were founded by Archbishop Aston Ignatius Chichester in 1932 to cater for the vulnerable women and children. The congregation has about 200 sisters predominantly working in Zimbabwe and the United Kingdom.

Fr. Fanuel Magwidi applauded the jubilarians for the great work they have done in different missions and for inspiring the youths to follow Jesus Christ through different vocations. He challenged the six Sisters to remain focused even in difficult times.

‘’We are celebrating the fruits of your 50 and 25 years despite the hardships you have encountered along the way. You have inspired many, you have left an impact and helped many youths to discover their vocations. Let that conviction of knowing that you were called help you to remain committed.’’ Said Fr. Magwidi.
