KWEKWE – The Catholic Bishop for Gweru Diocese, Rudolf Nyandoro, graced the Congregatio Jesu (CJ) (Mary Ward Sisters), Sr. Elizabeth Gotore’s silver jubilee at St. Mary’s Parish in Amaveni, Kwekwe on Saturday 22 April 2023.

The celebration was meant to recognize her religious life commitment for 25 years not only as a religious nun but also for manning Mary Ward Pre-School as its administrator.

The celebrations ran under the theme; Show yourself at all times glad and joyful for God loves a cheerful giver (Mary Ward).

Sr. Elizabeth, filled with tears of joy, could not say much, but only expressed her warm gratitude to the presence of multitudes of people who gathered in solidarity with her mission.

“I feel humbled by the Bishop’s presence. I am overwhelmed with great support, love and I would like to thank God for this day,” said Sr. Gotore.

Fr. Victor Musendeki did justice to the gospel by delivering a heart rending sermon that resonates with Sr. Elizabeth’s humble and hard working life style.

The Regional Superior of the Congregatio Jesu (Mary Ward Sisters), Sr. Maria Goretti expressed gratitude to Sr. Elizabeth for her dedication and commitment and for driving the mission of the sisters in serving vulnerable children.

Sr. Elizabeth renewed her vows, got her silver crown and the Papal blessing certificate, which was presented to her by Bishop Nyandoro.

The event was closed by a speech from Sr. Elizabeth’s young brother, Benjamin Gotore who noted that the Zimbabwe Catholic community has remained alive despite a myriad of challenges.

Benjamin appreciated everyone who helped her sister in her vocation by guiding and praying for her.

“Celebrating a Silver Jubilee is an opportunity for us to step back and give thanks for the gift of Sister Elizabeth’s vocation to the Church and especially to our community. We appreciate her vocation and pray that she remains faithful to her calling.

The jubilee celebration was attended by priests, brothers and sisters from various orders.
