Masvingo Deanery held its choral competitions at St. John Maraire in Zimuto on 22 April 2023.

The competition was running under the theme “Be filled with the Spirit, singing and playing to the Lord with all your heart. Ephesians 5:18b -19”.

The set piece was “Paridza Shoko raMwari” composed by I.T Mapanzure.

The deanery had six choirs which were supposed to complete namely: St Don Bosco, St. Theresa, Sts. Peter and Paul, Gokomere Mission, St. Barbra Mashava and St. John Maraire Mission. However, St Barbra Mashava failed to make it for the competition resulting in five choirs battling it out.

 The outcome of the competition was as follows: St. Don Bosco choir scooped the first position followed by Sts. Peter and Paul on the second place with St. Theresa taking the third positing.  St. John Maraire Mission came fourth while Gokomere Mission rounded it off on fifth position.
